This local community park was designed on the site of a disused limestone quarry located within a council housing estate. It aimed to provide for a wide range of uses and create an identifiable landmark focus for the area. Maximum use was made of the irregular land form of the site and a natural pond which, together with additional earth modeling and planting, were utilised to create a variety of naturally separated active and passive activity zones including a BMX track, kick about space, equipped play area and picnic spots. Areas were set aside for the possible future provision of an adventure play area and Scout Hut by local residents. Pedestrian were prevented from gaining access to part of the pond to enable the creation of a natural wetland habitat for plants and wildlife.
Other landscape projects within housing areas have included housing landscape design, environmental improvements and the design of equipped play areas. Clients include The City of Edinburgh Council, The Greenbelt Group of Companies, New Gorbals Housing Association, Dundas Estates, and David Gray Homes. <Back to Projects Index |
