Assessment of site suitability and the preparation of masterplanning options for a new settlement of between 2,000 and 5,000 dwellings in West Lothian. The proposals were prepared in response to a Structure Plan review which identified the need for additional housing allocations within West Lothian. The study had to assess the landscape, geological, and infrastructural suitability of the client landholdings for the development of a new settlement and evaluate its policy benefits against those of competing locations.
The masterplanning options comprised a complimentary mixture of uses including shops, schools, community and recreational facilities, and business use to create a relatively self contained and sustainable new community which would also contribute towards the realisation of wider regional objectives. Natural landscape features, existing roads and buildings were incorporated to form key elements of the masterplanning proposals, providing them with a character and identity which was relevant to the area. <Back to Projects Index |
