Services:

Feasibility Study to Implementation+ Public Consultations

Value:

£250K

A package of proposals aimed at improving the safety, security and appearance of a council housing development located within Haddington town centre conservation area. The proposals were developed in close collaboration with the local community through a series of public meetings and the formation of a resident working group which became an integral part of the design team.

Proposals include the creation of pedestrian friendly roads and ‘mews courts’ to provide more secure parking closer to houses, semi private ‘garden’ spaces infront of houses to improve privacy, controlled pedestrian access through the historic Closes which link the area to the High Street, improved hard and soft landscaping and improved streetlighting.

In-house staff from East Lothian Council were included in the design team for the provision of specialist Engineering and Quantity Surveying services.
